A typical Fictive VJ set up revolves around the use of a panasonic MX50 AV mixer, and includes at least two video projectors. A laptop, dvd player, and live video camera also come standard. Beyond this, infra red cameras for filming crowds in darkness, additional laptops, more video projectors, decks for recording final output, and even multiple mixers are all possible.

Projects have involved as many as seven live cameras, fifteen projection surfaces and three or more discrete AV mixers.

Mixing typically involves at least two crew people. One VJ and one camera operator/media loader.
