About Paul Clay and FICTIVE
FICTIVE is as an illusory arts collective created by Paul Clay as a conceptual structure from which to make work.
Under the Fictive moniker he vjs in the Club scene, and produces artworks in conjunction with a loose constellation of multi-disciplinary art creators who contribute to projects in an endless variety of ways. Fictive is a kind of fictional corporation composed of whoever happens to be on the project at the moment.
Fictive is similar to an arts/design organization and operates in an analogous manner to corporate entities that have vast resources, including corporate offices, showrooms, design studios, and manufacturing spaces. Fictive produces fictional works in a wide variety of media and seeks to highlight the cultural significance of the endeavors being emulated. FICTIVE has involved as many as 90 or more "employees" per project, yet there is no official headquarters, space, or even any actual organization.
