In during an internet search on the word "phono" I came across an archive of the "ARO Midwinter Meeting of 1995" where two scientists presented text and electron microscope video graphs showing the findings of their phonic experiments on the extracted inner ear hairs of alligators. ALLIGATOR PHONO comes from my imaginings of the alligators' response in attempting to process the data still coming from the missing hairs now installed in some distant science lab.
Created live in real time mixing four distinct inputs simultaneously:
*Ascii Text run as a QuickTime text track on one laptop
*QuickTime downloads from the internet of electron microscopy on a second laptop
*mini DV video footage of my neighborhood, (here standing in for the everyday lives of the scientists.)
*an internal feedback loop.
