ero manga often use this dissonance between the "unrealistic"
depiction and real life to decry any resemblance between the
two and to assert that manga are fantasies that no one believes
and that have no impact on the behavior of real people. More
to the point, perhaps, is the pounding repetitiousness of
the attacks; power is so consistently sought on the pages
of ero manga, yet is it ever achieved, or if so, is it ever
sustained? Women are beaten time and time again into submission,
but they always return, or if one woman is eliminated, another
takes her place. Whatever it is these woman stand for, men
and their phallicism are fairly powerless in its presence.
